Along with Umerov, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov, his first deputy Serhiy Kyslytsia, and the head of the "Servant of the People" faction in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia, participated in the meeting on behalf of Ukraine.

The American side was represented by U.S. President's special envoy Steve Whitkoff, U.S. President's son-in-law Jared Kushner, Federal Procurement Service representative Josh Grunbaum, Secretary of the Army General Daniel Driskell, and NATO Forces Commander in Europe General Alex Grinkevich.

The Russian delegation was led by representatives of military intelligence and the army.

Umerov reported that the next meetings will take place on January 24, with the participation of the Chief of the General Staff of Ukraine General Andriy Hnatov and Deputy Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Lieutenant General Vadym Skibitsky. After each stage of the negotiations, the Ukrainian team will report the results to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Prior to the talks, Zelenskyy himself announced that trilateral talks between Ukraine, the USA, and Russia would take place on Friday and Saturday.

Before the start of the meetings, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia demands the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbas, considering it an important condition for talks on ending the war.
