Israel returned the body of the last hostage from the Gaza Strip
The body of the last Israeli hostage, taken on October 7, 2023, has been returned from the Gaza Strip. According to data from the IDF, this is 24-year-old police officer Ran Gvili, whose body was identified and transferred to Israel.

Ran Gvili
Gvili died during the Hamas militants' attack on Kibbutz Alumim. He was on sick leave but independently went out to defend civilians. His body was held in the Gaza Strip for over two years.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, the man's remains were found in a mass grave in eastern Gaza City. Hamas did not provide the burial coordinates; the information was obtained as a result of independent searches.
The return of Gvili's body removes the last obstacle for the opening of the "Rafah" crossing and the transition to the second phase of the truce between Israel and Hamas. For the first time since 2014, there are no Israeli hostages remaining in the Gaza Strip.
