«Energy Ceasefire» Ends — Russia Resumes Massive Strikes on Ukrainian Infrastructure
Russia has once again begun to deliberately destroy Ukraine's energy system, ending a short period of relative calm. According to data from Ukraine's Ministry of Energy as of February 2, after repeated attacks, residents of Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Cherkasy regions were left without electricity, and Kyiv and the surrounding region were forced to return to emergency blackouts due to power deficit.

After a period of relative calm, Russia has once again begun to deliberately attack Ukrainian energy infrastructure, leading to serious destruction and human casualties. According to a statement by Ukraine's Ministry of Energy, facilities in Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Cherkasy regions were hit, leaving consumers without electricity.
The most tragic incident occurred in Pavlohrad district: Russian drones attacked a company bus carrying miners, resulting in 12 workers dying on the spot, and seven more being hospitalized with injuries.
The situation in the capital region remains difficult. Due to a severe power deficit in Kyiv and the surrounding region, scheduled outages have been abandoned, and the system has switched to emergency blackouts. Energy workers state that stable electricity supply will only be restored after the system is fully stabilized.
The situation is further exacerbated by unfavorable weather conditions: due to squally winds and precipitation, over 160 settlements in the south and center of the country are without power. Currently, repair crews across the country are working around the clock, trying to restore damaged lines and bring light back to homes.
