The trial is expected to begin in late February. Pavel Dabravolski is accused of "treason against the state" and faces up to 15 years in prison.

In autumn 2025, Pavel Dabravolski was transferred from the KGB pre-trial detention center to pre-trial detention center No. 1 in Kaliadzichy.

According to BAJ, the "treason" charges are related to Dabravolski's journalistic publications. He previously worked for both Belarusian and foreign media, including the Ukrainian magazine NV.ua (before the start of Russia's full-scale military invasion). His last place of work in Belarus was the independent news agency BelaPAN.

Pavel Dabravolski was detained in Minsk on January 22, 2025 – several months after returning to his homeland.

Pavel left Belarus in early autumn 2021. According to information on his social media pages, after leaving, he traveled the world: visited several European countries, was in Iran, Russia, and South American countries. He returned to Minsk in October 2024.

During the post-election protests of 2020, Pavel Dabravolski was detained and brought to administrative responsibility in connection with his professional activities. Specifically, on October 30, 2020, the journalist was detained in his apartment and subsequently arrested for 15 days on charges of participating in an unauthorized rally.

The Belarusian human rights community recognized Pavel Dabravolski as a political prisoner.

On January 12, he celebrated his 36th birthday behind bars in the pre-trial detention center.
