An unusual sight was noticed in the Zhitkovichi district. A herd of bison approached the houses of residents of the agrotown of Ozeryany.
The animals behave calmly, but specialists still advise keeping a distance from the "guests".
Why are bison drawn to people? According to Andrei Bespaly (Deputy General Director for Research at the Pripyatsky National Park), this could have happened because of a feeding ground.
The fact is that it is traditionally organized nearby by national park employees. "Such 'canteens' help maintain the population count and minimize possible damage to agricultural land. During the hungry and cold winter period, especially when it's difficult to get natural food from under deep snow, as this year, an experienced adult female decides to lead the herd out of the forest. In the feeders there are oats and crushed corn, hay, carrots, and also salt," added the Telegram channel of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee.
