The UK has not allowed the US to carry out airstrikes on Iran from the British base on Diego Garcia island and the airbase in Gloucestershire, Sky News reports .

American military personnel were counting on using the base on Diego Garcia, as well as RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, where US heavy bombers are stationed.
According to long-standing agreements between London and Washington, the Pentagon can only launch operations from these two locations, as well as from other UK airbases where American military aircraft and personnel are stationed, with the prior approval of the British government.
However, the UK did not give permission to strike Iran, as it is concerned about a possible violation of international law.
As journalists claim, the UK does not currently intend to support the US in any military operation against Iran.
