In the city of Russian nuclear scientists, dozens of people were scalded by boiling water in their own apartments

At least 20 people were scalded by boiling water in apartments in Russian Obninsk, Kaluga Oblast; one person died in hospital two weeks after sustaining injuries. The reason is that water thermoregulators are absent or not working in multi-story buildings.

According to Mash, the first complaints about excessively hot water began to come from residents in the 20s of December. Most of the victims sustained second- and third-degree burns — some developed blisters, while others literally had their skin peel off.

An inspection showed that during preparation for the heating season, the management companies were informed about malfunctions of hot water supply regulators and were asked to fix everything. However, the notifications were ignored.

Currently, law enforcement officers have seized documents from only one management company — in their building, a person died from boiling water.

Obninsk is a Russian city of nuclear scientists, whose history began with a scientific center for research in the field of nuclear physics.
