The United States found itself in the grip of a historic winter storm, unofficially named "Fern". The elemental force covered a vast territory and could affect over 230 million people. Fatalities have already been reported: three people died from the cold on the streets of New York. A state of emergency has been declared in 20 states.
The danger of the storm lies not only in anomalous snowfalls but also in destructive icing. In the southern states, which are not adapted to such frosts, freezing rain and strong winds are toppling trees and tearing down power lines.
Currently, about 135,000 consumers are without electricity, with the most difficult situation observed in Texas and Louisiana. Air temperatures in some regions have dropped to levels that, factoring in the wind, feel like -40 degrees.
The country's transportation system is practically paralyzed. Over 13,000 flights were canceled over the weekend, making it the largest disruption in air travel since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hundreds of accidents are being recorded on highways across the country, and traffic on many major routes has completely stopped.
Meteorologists warn that some areas will see up to 60 centimeters of snow, and extreme frosts will last for several more days, which will only complicate the elimination of the consequences of the стихія (elemental disaster).
The technician recommended being very careful with Horizont laptops. Because the laptop was "stolen" from the Chinese, but spare parts for it were not supplied
