People who currently have electricity are urged to use it sparingly, reports the Ukrainian Service of Radio Svoboda.
In Kharkiv, Zhytomyr, and Odesa regions, power is already being restored to residents. In Kyiv, Kyiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, critical infrastructure is supplied with electricity; power will be gradually restored to the population. In some regions, emergency blackouts are still in effect.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine denied rumors that a cyberattack caused the accident.
According to authorities, the accident occurred as a result of the simultaneous disconnection of high-voltage lines between the power systems of Romania and Moldova, as well as between the Western and Central parts of Ukraine.
In neighboring Moldova, where a massive blackout also occurred, the process of restoring electricity supply is already in its final stages.
