Almost a thousand unemployed opened their own businesses with state support over the year
Subsidies for starting their own business in Belarus were received by 935 unemployed people (104 more than last year). The total amount issued to them was 5.2 million rubles, the Ministry of Labor reported on February 3.

Most recipients (82 percent) underwent preliminary training in entrepreneurship basics.
The most popular areas for starting a business were the provision of various services (repairs, logistics, taxis, beauty) and retail trade.
The largest number of subsidies was issued in the regions. Minsk, Gomel, and Mogilev regions became the leaders.
Almost half of the new businesses were launched by women. They open beauty salons, sewing workshops, and farmsteads.
Almost every fourth new entrepreneur (23 percent) was a resident of a rural area.
