Trump will order the disclosure of documents "concerning alien and extraterrestrial life" and UFOs, writes the BBC.
"Given the enormous public interest, I will direct Secretary of Defense [Pete Hegseth] and relevant departments and agencies to begin the process of identifying and declassifying government documents pertaining to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs), as well as any other information related to these very complex, yet extremely interesting and important matters," Donald Trump wrote on his social network.
Earlier, Trump stated that Barack Obama "disclosed classified information" about the existence of aliens after the former US president discussed them on a podcast. "Yes, they exist, but I haven't seen them," Obama said. He also stated that during his presidency, he had seen no evidence of contact with extraterrestrial beings.
Later, he published a snippet of the podcast recording and explained that he was referring exclusively to the statistical probability of extraterrestrial life: "I tried to answer quickly, adapting to the pace of the host's rapid questions."
When asked about the existence of aliens, President Trump replied: "Well, I don't know if they exist or not. I can only tell you that he disclosed classified information. He shouldn't have done that. He made a big mistake."
