The Ministry of Information warned Belarusians about a new telephone scam scheme. Criminals use artificial intelligence technologies to fake a person's voice and deceitfully force their relatives or friends to transfer money or perform other actions that could lead to losses.

Only 20 seconds of a conversation recording are enough to create a fake voice. The more and longer conversations with a stranger on the phone, the higher the probability that scammers will obtain enough audio recordings to create a "voice clone." Even simple answers to questions can be used for this.
Experts note that a fake voice is often almost impossible to distinguish from a real one. Therefore, the Ministry of Information recommends:
- do not talk on the phone with strangers;
- warn relatives about the existing danger;
- do not trust unfamiliar people, even if you seem to hear a familiar voice.
