Young men sentenced for torturing acquaintance with a hot iron for 18 hours
In Gomel, a verdict was passed in a case of robbery and theft. Two men, in a state of alcoholic intoxication, attacked an acquaintance, beat him, and took 600 rubles.
This happened in April. Two young men came to an acquaintance's home and demanded money.
When he refused, the men used violence: they beat the owner with their hands and feet to the head and chest. Then they alternately applied a hot iron to his face and exposed parts of his body.
The torture lasted about 18 hours. As a result, they took about 600 rubles.
The examination established that the thermal burns caused the victim severe bodily harm, permanently disfiguring his face and neck.
Later, one of the attackers also robbed a roommate, stealing 1100 dollars, 700 euros, and 10 thousand Russian rubles.
The court sentenced him to 10 years of imprisonment and also ordered him to undergo treatment for alcoholism. The second attacker received 9 years. In addition, both were fined 100 basic units (4500 rubles).
