Emmanuel Macron has recently been appearing in public in dark glasses. What happened?
French President Emmanuel Macron has almost always been appearing in public in sunglasses in recent days: apparently, to hide his reddened eyes. For example, he recently appeared with them at a meeting at the Élysée Palace dedicated to the future of New Caledonia.

"Excuse me for these glasses — it's due to a small problem," Le Parisien quotes the French president. Macron noted that he would have to wear them for some time and asked for "tolerance" of him in this state.
On January 20, he also appeared in blue glasses at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Earlier, during his New Year's address to the French army, the French president showed up with swollen and reddened eyes and assured that it was "not at all dangerous."
Macron joked that his glasses could be seen as an "involuntary appeal to the song 'Eye of the Tiger' by the American rock band Survivor, hinting at the famous scene from the movie 'Rocky III,' which featured Sylvester Stallone, and emphasizing a symbol of determination."
