I was held in the KGB pre-trial detention center with a lieutenant colonel from the DFR. He categorically refused to admit guilt, and for this, he was constantly punished.
Punishments in "Amerikanka" are select. It all starts with disconnecting power outlets; they can simply take away the TV. A higher level is being forced to stand for entire days in one pose or on a stretch. An even higher level is being woken up every hour at night and forced to pull down your underwear and squat or spin. An even higher level is being taken to a "soft room" where there are no cameras – there, a special hook is screwed into the ceiling, from which you are suspended in handcuffs with your hands behind your back and can be beaten with a stun gun. If you are very uncooperative, they can place all your relatives, including your 80-year-old mother, in neighboring cells.
So, this lieutenant colonel went through all levels and still did not give in. His heart stopped, and resuscitation was called, which barely revived him. And after that, the mockery not only did not stop but even intensified. His sister is sitting in a cell on the same floor.
Very often, people with bruised kidneys, bruises, and concussions, with broken ribs, arrive in the cells. I was surprised that among these, there were especially many people detained for trivial non-payment of taxes. Why beat them like that?
Three people I shared a cell with underwent "the lake" during their detention – they were taken to some body of water, beaten there, a rag was thrown over their mouth, and water was poured, simulating suffocation.
Naturally, there's no one to complain to; it will only get worse. Therefore, everyone, already in the cell, writes in their explanations that they either tripped getting off the bus or caught their foot on a tree root while jogging and broke their ribs, nose, and accidentally shot themselves in the leg. This is happening in the 21st century in the center of Europe. Add to this as a bonus the lack of a toilet (a bucket) and the lack of bunks (you sleep on the floor on wooden pallets).
