Instead of endless war — investments and access to the US market. This is how Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, presented the economic part of Trump's plan in Davos. These plans could transform Ukraine into a global manufacturing hub.

Special Representative of the US President Steve Witkoff, speaking on January 22 at the "Ukrainian Breakfast" in Davos, stated that the parties are closer than ever to concluding an agreement on ending the war in Ukraine.
According to him, only one unresolved issue remains at the moment (presumably, it concerns control over territories).
He noted that he and other members of the American delegation spent yesterday until late evening in discussions with the Ukrainian delegation. The recovery of the Ukrainian economy was also discussed. Witkoff voiced Donald Trump's idea of creating a duty-free free trade zone between Ukraine and the US. According to the American side, this will radically change the situation, provoke a massive influx of industry into the region, and give Ukraine a huge competitive advantage in the US market.
The creation of a free economic zone in the Donetsk region was also discussed, although the status of these territories remains contentious: Russia claims the entire region, controlling 70% of it.
Witkoff confirmed that after a series of intensive discussions with the Ukrainian delegation, he is heading to Moscow today for a meeting with Vladimir Putin.
It is also expected that a personal meeting between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy may take place today in Switzerland.
Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin, at a meeting of the Russian Security Council, for the first time allowed for the possibility of using funds from frozen Russian assets to restore Ukrainian territories affected by hostilities. He did not specify which territories were meant but confirmed his readiness to consider this issue after the signing of peace agreements.
