Brooklyn Beckham's 31-year-old wife recently found herself at the epicenter of a media scandal after her husband's sharp social media post directed against his celebrity parents — David and Victoria Beckham, according to the BBC.
Although the general public mostly learned about Nicola after her marriage to the famous couple's eldest son, she has actually long lived her own, completely independent life — as an actress, author, and heiress to one of America's most influential families.
Family, Money, and Childhood in New York
Nicola's father is billionaire Nelson Peltz, a co-founder of an investment fund in New York and a former board member of several international corporations, including Heinz. Her mother is Claudia Heffner, a successful model of the 1980s-1990s.
The Peltz family has eight children, and their parents have been together for over 40 years.
Nicola grew up in New York and, as she recounted in a 2019 interview, the path to an acting career was not so simple for her — initially, her parents were against it.
"When I was little, I played ice hockey, and my dad really wanted me to focus on that. He thought it was incredibly cool," she recalled. "I played center and right forward."
Music, Fashion, Cinema
Nicola Peltz's interest in acting emerged at the age of 11 — thanks to school drama classes, which quickly became her favorite.
"I asked my mom to let me try acting. At first, my parents were strongly against it because they simply didn't understand why I wanted to do it," Nicola recalled.
Over time, her parents came to terms with her choice and supported their daughter.
In 2005, she landed her first theatrical role in the play "Blackbird" on the stage of the Manhattan Theatre Club.
A year before that, she made her film debut in the Christmas comedy "Welcome, or Neighbors Not Allowed" (Deck the Halls).
Then came roles in large-scale and well-known projects: M. Night Shyamalan's "The Last Airbender" (2010), the series "Bates Motel" (2013), in which she played Norman Bates' girlfriend, the blockbuster "Transformers: Age of Extinction" (2014), the dramatic series "When the Streetlights Turn On" (2017).
Nicola's next career step was the independent feature film "Lola," in which she played the leading role of a ballerina. Alongside her on screen appeared Oscar winners Faye Dunaway and Mira Sorvino. A special feature of the project is that the script was created based on a story and character conceived by Peltz Beckham herself.
Nicola also appeared in music videos, including Zayn Malik's (It's You) and Miley Cyrus's (7 Things).
Additionally, she worked as a model for various brands, notably for the Italian house Genny.
In 2024, Nicola debuted as a director with the film "Lola," which she not only directed but also wrote the screenplay for and starred in the leading role. Her character is a young woman trying to earn money to save her brother and extricate him from a toxic family atmosphere.
Nicola has repeatedly admitted that due to her privileged position, she faces harsh criticism.
"I often receive nasty comments on Instagram — and yes, I read them. People say: 'She doesn't work at all'," she shares.
"I understand why they think that. For example, I don't show every step of working on the film 'Lola,' but in reality, it took six years to create. It was a very long and exhausting process."
The film received mixed reviews: audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes is 56%, and The Guardian noted that the film "exploits the theme of human suffering."
Beyond her career, Nicola supports animal care from shelters. In 2022, PETA recognized her for her contribution to promoting responsible animal welfare.
Marriage to Brooklyn and Conflict with the Beckham Family
Nevertheless, it was her relationship with Brooklyn Beckham that made Nicola a constant tabloid fixture — especially after their lavish wedding in 2022. Brooklyn told Glamour that he first met Nicola at Coachella, and they later grew closer after a Halloween party.
Nicola has repeatedly emphasized how important family is to her — both her own and her husband's family.
In a 2024 interview with Brydie, she candidly shared: "Family is everything to me, and I say that from the bottom of my heart. I am very close to my own family and to Brooklyn's family. There's nothing better than knowing you have people to lean on. It's a true blessing that I'm always grateful for."
Although Nicola still publicly praises her family on social media, it recently became known that she deleted a post from her profile congratulating her mother-in-law Victoria Beckham on her 50th birthday.
Nicola and Brooklyn are now at the center of a high-profile conflict with David and Victoria after Brooklyn stated on Instagram that he has no intention of reconciling with his family amidst a serious rift.
