Trump received assassination threats on Iranian TV. His response: If anything happens, the whole country will go up in smoke!
Shortly before departing for the World Economic Forum in Davos, US President Donald Trump made it clear what he intends to do with the mullahs and their allies if they attempt to assassinate him.

"Well, they better not do it, but I left instructions that the entire country will go up in smoke if anything ever happens," Trump told NewsNation in a pre-recorded program Katie Pavlich Tonight, which aired on the evening of January 23 (local time).
After that, Trump accused his predecessor Joe Biden of not reacting harshly enough to Iranian threats, and again addressed Tehran: "I've given very clear instructions: if something happens, they will disappear from the face of the Earth."
Trump's harsh rhetoric came after a segment on Iranian state television in the middle of last week. It showed Donald Trump surrounded by Secret Service agents after an assassination attempt on his life in 2024 during a campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania. A threatening message appeared on the screen: "This time [the bullet] won't miss," Bild reports.
This is another escalation between the Iranian regime, which has executed thousands of demonstrators in the country in recent days, and the US President. Iran's leader, Supreme Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, a few days ago called Trump a "criminal" and personally accused him of orchestrating the Iranian protests. Trump responded with sharp criticism and, in an interview with Politico magazine, called the chief mullah a "sick man." "It's time to look for new leadership for Iran," the US President added.
In recent weeks, Trump has also repeatedly emphasized that the United States is ready for military intervention to help the demonstrators. General Abolfazl Shekarchi, a spokesman for the Iranian armed forces, stated on January 20: "Trump knows: if a hand of aggression is extended towards our leader, we will not only cut off that hand, but we will set fire to their entire world."
