All participants of the Champions League football play-off have been determined

The general stage of the Champions League concluded on Wednesday. It was held for the second consecutive year.

Previously, for three decades, clubs were divided into groups of four teams each and played six matches in two rounds. Two teams from each group advanced to the play-offs.

Now, 36 teams play in the main round, each club plays eight matches (four at home, four away), and the main round concludes in January.

Eight clubs that finished 1st-8th in the overall table directly qualified for the 1/8 finals: Arsenal, Bayern, Liverpool, Tottenham, Barcelona, Chelsea, Sporting, Manchester City.

Teams that finished from 9th to 24th place will play in the "knockout round". There, another 8 participants of the 1/8 finals will be determined.

At this stage, teams from 9th-16th places will meet teams from 17th-24th places. Approximate pairs are already known (9th-10th vs 23rd-24th, 11th-12th vs 21st-22nd, 13th-14th vs 19th-20th, 15th-16th vs 17th-18th).

Real (Spain) and Inter (Italy) — Bodø/Glimt (Norway) and Benfica (Portugal);

PSG (France) and Newcastle (England) — Monaco (France) and Qarabag (Azerbaijan);

Juventus (Italy) and Atlético (Spain) — Brugge (Belgium) and Galatasaray (Turkey);

Atalanta (Italy) and Bayer (Germany) — Borussia (Dortmund, Germany) and Olympiacos (Greece).

The draw will take place this Friday, and the matches will be held on February 17-18 and 24-25.

Kazakhstani Kairat, with Belarusians Alexander Martynovich and Valery Gromyko, finished the main round in the last, 36th place, with one draw and seven losses.
