"The main thing is they put on hats." Runners noticed in central Minsk at -17°C with almost no clothing
While most Minsk residents on Sunday, February 1, were bundling up in scarves and down jackets, seeking refuge from the severe frost, a group of enthusiasts was spotted on Independence Avenue for whom the cold, it seemed, was no hindrance at all.

Videos have appeared on the social network Threads showing a group of men running along the avenue, first in the area of Chelyuskintsev Park, and then near Independence Square at the other end of the city. Their attire consisted mainly of shorts, hats, and gloves; only some had warmed up with leggings. And this was despite the air temperature in the capital dropping to -17°C, with the weather feeling like a staggering -25°C.
Commentators reacted to the "walrus-runners" in different ways. Some expressed respect for their healthy lifestyle: "Worthy. Better than getting drunk in bars."
Others were skeptical, calling it "a show-off" and expressing concerns about the burden on healthcare: "A responsible person would not engage in such activities. Most often, such displays are carried out by military personnel or police officers."
But most users reacted to the run with humor:
- "The main thing is they put on hats, so their ears don't get frostbitten";
- "Gentlemen of Fortune" are filming a sequel";
- "They saw the apartment prices in "Paunochny Bereh", were shocked, and are running in protest, shocking people."
